I’m late getting this posted. That’s because I was hosting a dinner party yesterday. I was so busy that I got behind on my posts. Yikes! I ate many delicious things. They will all be featured in this edition of What I Ate Wednesday!
Technically this is what I ate Tuesday…
Please check out our lovely host’s blog and see what What I Ate Wednesday is all about.

Breakfast and lunch kind of merged together yesterday. When I woke up I ate oatmeal with sunflower seed butter. Have you tried sunflower seed butter? It’s amazing. Then I had a doctor’s appointment for my foot. I ate breakfast at 11am and the doctor’s appointment was at 2pm. The guests were arriving at 6pm. I never really got around to eating lunch.
I ate snacks. They were things like toast, roasted chestnuts, and apples. I drank a lot of tea too. I love tea. What kind of tea do you like, if you like it?
Then came dinner!
There were several courses to this dinner. I neglected to take photos of everything because I was busy serving my guests. The first course was fresh spring rolls, not unlike these. Then there was a soup and salad course. I served my spicy bean and tomato soup. There was plenty of silliness. And perhaps some dumplings.
There was wine as well. Can there be a dinner party without wine? I don’t think so. Happy What I Ate Wednesday!

i love how you bowl of oatmeal is covered in sunflower butter. looks fantastic. and no, i haven’t tried sunflower butter but i really should. so far all i’ve tried is pb and almond. i have trouble splurging for the other kinds, but i bet its worth it!
All nut butters are worth it!!!
I have oatmeal almost every morning, but the sunflower butter would sure brighten it up! I’ll have to try that. I used to love to host dinner parties, but now I get a little bogged down lately with trying to please too many palates and deal with everyone’s allergies and sensitivities. Seems like it is becoming a chore. So when i do, I tend towards what to some would seem entirely too much of a hodge-podge, but then I serve really good wine…it all balances
Yours appears to have been great fun! Debra
It was!!! Thanks for commenting!!!
Do I like wine? That’s like asking if grass is green.
What kind did you serve?
I’m a firm believer that there is not such thing as too many courses. I once went to an course dinner… my stomach almost exploded, but it was soooo good!
I served like 4, I think. And Pinot noir!
I’m not a wine fan (I know, you’re like “your 18, you can’t drink wine.” Doesn’t mean I haven’t tried it!). I don’t like alcohol at all actually. I’m not a partier like most of my college counterparts. I’ve never thrown a dinner party, but I think it’d be fun. I’d do three courses: an app, main course, and dessert.
Sounds perfect!!!
Oatmeal is one of my favorites! …and it sounds like you had a good time with your guests if you forgot to take pictures!
That’s exactly why I forgot to take pictures!!!
They all look so good especially the spring rolls!
Thanks!!!
I discovered you through FoodBuzz, and I’m so happy to have found a vegan-friendly blog! I’m having fun going through your archive. Thanks!
Oh! You’re welcome!
I’m really glad you enjoyed yourself, and I do hope your feet is just fine. As for the tea… I’m in love with Earl Grey. Earl Grey is good any time of day
Best Wishes!
I’m in love with early grey too!
I’m really glad I came across your blog! I am also a vegetarian and am always on the look out for healthy everyday food ideas. I too love hosting dinner parties and agree that the best dinner party are those where we had so much fun that there are no pictures to share!
Exactly!
Mmm… one of my fave breakfasts is oatmeal with almond butter and banana or blueberries. (and a dash of cinnamon!) Haven’t tried sunflower seed butter, but I will definitely investigate!
Please do investigate!!!
